William :Bill” Truscott

William “Bill” Truscott passed away peacefully, Saturday night February 1, 2020, surrounded by his family at home after a long battle with MS.  He was born on August 17, 1945, son of Howard and Alice (Buel) Truscott in Delhi, NY.  After graduation from Laurens Central School, Class of 1964, he served in the US Navy aboard the USS Mississinewa out of Newport, Rhode Island for 4 years.  On March 18, 1967, he married Gloria A. Youngs, at the United Methodist Church in Unadilla, NY.  After leaving the Navy, Gloria and Bill were dairy farmers, in Laurens, NY.  After the farm was sold, he was a manger of a West Nesbitt Feed Store in Sharon Springs, New York for several years.  He and Gloria moved to Mesa, Arizona in 1978. Bill acquired a job at Northrup King Seed Company, and moved to the Los Angeles, California area with the Seed Co.  They then moved back to Arizona, where Gloria and Bill sold Health Insurance until 2000, when they moved back to Unadilla, New York.  Bill was diagnosed with MS over 35 years ago.  He was predeceased by his parents, and grand parents, and his Father in Law, Edwin Youngs.  He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Gloria, his brother, Bruce Truscott and his family, of Arkansas, and his sister Marion Bookhout of Hobe Sound, Florida.  Also surviving are his sister in law, Suzi Whitmore and her husband, Denny, his brother in law, Doug Youngs and his wife, Cheryl, and his wonderful mother-in-law, Betty Youngs.  There are several nieces and nephews, and a special cousin, Linda Kollar, and many other cousins who survive.

His family wishes to thank all the staff at Helios Care, especially Emily, Jen and Mike for their wonderful care and all of the aides at Cooperstown Connections for their great care, especially Diane, Amber, Casey and Chrissy.

There will be no services at this time.  Services will be graveside, with Military Honors, in the spring at Unadilla Evergreen Cemetery.
