Mrs. Thorna Marie Henyan Holmes ages 106 of Hickory Heights Rd. Blairsville passed away peacefully on Sunday July 12, 2015 at Stonehenge Assisted Living following an extended illness. Mrs. Holmes was born on Oct. 28, 1908 in Bloomingdale, NJ, the daughter of the late Mark Henyan and the late Adrianna Francisco Henyan. Thorna loved flowers, sewing, bowling, and traveling (She was a world wide traveler). She loved adventure. She also loved Toy Boston Terriers, which her favorite one that she loved dearly was Dixie Bell. She was preceded in death by her husband, Author W. Holmes in 1980, a son, Arthur Russell Homes in 1983 and also a daughter, Barbara Heine in 2014. Mrs. Homes was a member of the First Baptist Church in Blairsville.  Surviving Mrs. Homes are one daughter and son in law, Sallee and Everett Jenks of Athens, TN., three grandchildren, Judy and Thad Lane of Hiawassee, Patty and Marty DeVault of Endwell, NY., Rusty Straton of Los Angles, CA., cousin, Lisa Moneypenny of Sparta, NJ., two great grandchildren, Rena and Katie DeVault, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services will be held in Unadilla, NY. Interment will follow in Evergreen Hills Cemetery where she will rest next to her beloved husband Arthur.
