Sylvester A. Lord Jr. 83, passed away peacefully on Thurs. November 12, 2015.  Sly was born May 29, 1932 in Unadilla, NY and lived his entire life calling Unadilla his home.  He was the husband of 59 years to Ruth (Palen) Lord who survives him.  He is also survived by his children Ann (Broderick) Walker of Marion, NY; Linda Miller of Kenmore, NY; Laura (Jim) Minnick of Voorheesville, NY; James (Sara) Lord of Whitney Point, NY; and beloved grandchildren Broderick and Jeffrey Walker, Gabriel and Naomi Miller, Alex and Tom Minnick, Kyle Bush as well as several nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his sister, Anita DeVost and other siblings, Ruth (Lord) Herdeker, Raymond Lord, Mildred Lord, Lola (Lord) Walton.   Sly served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict.  He worked at Bendix/Allied Amphenol in Sidney, NY for 30 years.  After his retirement, he entered politics serving on the Unadilla Town Board and then holding the office of Otsego County Representative for 10 years.

Funeral Services will be held at the Westcott-Madden Funeral Home 123 Main Street Unadilla on Wed. at 11 a.m.  Rev. Fred Albrecht & Pastor Brandilynne Craver will co-officiate.  Burial will be in Evergreen Hill Cemetery, Unadilla.  The family will receive friends at the Westcott-Madden Funeral Home on Tues. from 5 to 7 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Catskill Area Hospice 1 Birchwood Drive Oneonta, NY 13820 or Alzheimer’s Assoc.
