Ruth A. (Lorenz) Topping

RUTH ANNE TOPPING (NEE LORENZ)

Ruth Anne was born on September 16, 1946, at Southampton Hospital, the long-awaited daughter of Madeline (nee Payne) and Oscar Lorenz. Growing up with six older brothers, the jury is still out on which side of the family can lay claim to the strong argument gene that Ruth and her siblings seemed to enjoy. A recurring argument was the direction in which Flanders Road ran, east to west or north to south (still debatable).

Ruth graduated from Riverhead High School in June 1964. She met and married the love of her life, Kenneth Parker Topping, on November 28, 1965. Together they raised their children in Hampton Bays.

Ruth was a devoted mother and homemaker for much of her life, enjoying crafting, reading, gardening, and later on, having adventures with her grandchildren. She returned to the workforce after the death of her husband, Ken, and retired from Southampton Hospital after five years.

In 2006 Ruth moved upstate to Hudson Falls to be near some of her grandchildren. Three years later she found love with Elias and moved again to Unadilla, NY on top of a hill to a home with a gorgeous view and lots of laughter and sunshine. Her children, grandchildren and eventually great grandchildren all enjoyed weekends on "the hill".

Ruth recently said that she was blessed to have found love twice in her life. She was sad that she knew she had to say goodbye, but only for now, to her Bebe (Elias). Ruth was blessed to have such a life as to be surrounded with so much love from her family. She was surrounded by this love in her final days and departed this world from the little piece of heaven on earth she called home on Sunday, April 16, 2023.

Left to carry her love in his heart is Elias (Bebe) Miller and her children, Kenneth Jr (Janice), Karen, and Kevin; grandchildren Catherine (Shane), Kenneth III, Joshua, Morgan, Hannah, Meghan, Cael, Maddox and Story; great grandchildren Tyler, Jackson, and Logan; her brother William Lorenz (Frances), many nieces, nephews, cousins and all of her friends. Ruth was predeceased by her beloved husband, Kenneth Topping Sr; her parents Oscar and Madeline (Payne) Lorenz; and her brothers, Douglas, Frederick, Jack, David, and Paul.
