Robert Kiyoshi Kaseguma
1933 - 2021
Robert Kaseguma, of Unadilla, passed away peacefully at the age of 87 on July 22, 2021 at the Mary Imogene Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown, NY. Bob was born in October, 1933 in Seattle, Washington, the youngest of six children. After spending three years at the Minidoka Internment Camp during WWII, the family relocated to Delavan, WI, where he attended high school. He then graduated from the University of Wisconsin at Madison with a degree in Civil Engineering. Early in his career he moved east to Unadilla, NY to begin a 50-year long career at Unadilla Laminated Products. Bob loved living in the small community of Unadilla. He built his family home on Buckhorn Lake in the 1960s and lived there for the remainder of his life. He served on the Buckhorn Lake Property Owners Association, the Unadilla Rotary Club, the National Ski Patrol, and several professional engineering organizations. Bob was known for his outgoing and fun-loving spirit that captured the hearts of everyone he met. His long list of friendships seemed to include everyone he ever came in contact with, probably due to his gift of seeing the goodness in all people. His interests ranged from carpentry to ballroom dancing, playing several musical instruments, and participating in a variety of sports. Spending time with family was always his greatest joy. Bob is survived by his son, Rick Kaseguma, and daughters Jan (Steve) Jaffe, and Suda (Mark) Handelman, and two grandchildren, Guy Pillon and Max Handelman. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 55 years, Hiro, and his daughter, Gale.
A Celebration of Life in Bob's memory will be held at a future date. Online condolences may be made at: www.wmaddenfh.com. Arrangements by the Westcott-Madden Funeral Home 123 Main Street Unadilla. A MADDEN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME.
