Unadilla:  Ingeborg Elizabeth Carpenter, 90, died Sun. night Dec. 7, 2014 at Chestnut Park Nursing Home in Oneonta.  She was born on May 18, 1924 in New York City.  Inga was the daughter of Rev. Dr. Theophilus & Ingeborg Neilson of Fort Lee, New Jersey.  She married Orson Carpenter on April21, 1946 at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Delhi, NY.  He predeceased her in 1984. She is survived by her 5 children:  Rev. Allen D. Carpenter, Delmar, NY, Barbara & John Sterchak, Bainbridge, Alice Carpenter, Delmar, NY, Lisa & Robert Hain, Allentown, PA, David & Tracy Carpenter, Marion, OH, 10  grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Ann Marie Wright, New Market, VA and several nieces and nephews.  She was also predeceased by her grandson, John Sterchak Jr.

She was a member of St. Matthews’s Episcopal Church, Unadilla.  She was past Village Clerk in Unadilla for many years, member of the Eastern Star and Unadilla Women’s Club, active with the Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts.  She enjoyed her bridge, bowling and the NY Yankees.

Memorial Services will be held at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church on Monday at 11 a.m.  Rev. Allen D. Carpenter, her son & Rev.  Scott Garno, Rector will co-officiate.  Burial will be in St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Meals on Wheels.  On-line condolences may be made at:   www.wmaddenfh.com.  Arrangements by the Westcott-Madden Funeral Home 123 Main Street Unadilla.
