Homer Holcomb Obituary

Homer Cecil Holcomb

Of Delhi

Homer Cecil Holcomb, of Delhi, New York, passed away on March 22, 2025, at the age of 70. He was born to the late Charles and Doris Holcomb, on July 9, 1954 in Oneonta, New York.  He is survived by his daughters, Erica Burkhart and her husband Eric, Amanda Holcomb and her fiancé Macon Wilson, and  Julie Mettler and her husband Bill.  Grandfather to  Kinslie and Karter Burkhart, Derrick (Jenna) Mettler and William Mettler.  He also leaves behind his sisters, Linda Lebourveau of Oneonta and Kathy (Mitchel) Chapin of Oneida; his sister-in-law, Doris Holcomb of Otego; as well as several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.  He was preceded in death by his brothers, Charles Holcomb, Richard Holcomb, Gary Holcomb, and Donald Holcomb.

Homer had a passion for local auctions, always searching for hidden treasures to restore and bring back to life.  He also had a deep love for racing, especially NASCAR and local dirt track events.  Some of his fondest memories were spent at Afton Motor Speedway, cheering on the races alongside his brother Gary.  A proud member of the American Legion in Sidney, New York, Homer valued the camaraderie of his fellow members.  He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle to local fairs, taking in the sights, sounds, and traditions of the region.

More than anything, Homer cherished time with his family.  He loved family gatherings, where stories, laughter, and good food brought everyone together.  A devoted and caring man, he was always willing to lend a helping hand to his loved ones whenever they needed him.

Homer’s memory lives on through his loving family. He will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, and his love for family. He will be deeply missed but forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
