Edwin J. Youngs

Edwin Julian Youngs, 93, passed away peacefully, at home, Saturday, March 21, with his family at his side, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Edwin was born June 4, 1921, the son of Perry & Ina (Youngs) Youngs at 32 Maple Street, Unadilla. He lived in Unadilla his entire life.

Edwin graduated from Unadilla Central School in 1938, and attended Airplane Mechanics School in Brooklyn, NY before joining the Army Air Corps.

After his discharge from the Army, he returned to Unadilla, and took a position at Scintilla (Amphenol) in Sidney, NY, as a jig bore operator.

On June 4, 1947 he married Elizabeth (Betty) Northrup.  They enjoyed 67 years together, raising 4 children, and traveling around the US and spent many vacations at Raquette Lake in the Adirondacks.

Edwin is survived by his wife, and his children: Gloria & Bill Truscott, Milford, NY Doug & Cheryl Youngs, Rio Rico, AZ and Suzi & Denny Whitmore, Milford, NY. His grandchildren: Jon & Whitney Youngs, Penny & Bill Paolo, Stephanie & Joel Varano & Stacy Whitmore, his step-grandchildren: Jason Richards, Christine & Rick Sbragia and Gary & Jessica Richards and his great grandchildren: Sterling and Gavin Youngs, Abby, Lauren & Erica Paolo, Victoria Richards,  Moses Varano and  Ashya & Cali Richards.

He is also survived by one sister-in-law, Barbara Youngs and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his son, Roger, in November 1973.  Also by his parents and all of his brothers and sisters: Alice, Jean, Persa, Erma, Viola (Tootsie), Betty, Leslie, & Robert.

The family would like to extend a special thank you Edwin’s care giver, Brenda Williams, and Catskill Area hospice for all of their help.

Arrangements are being made by Westcott-Madden Funeral Home, 123 Main Street ,Unadilla, NY.

Graveside Services for Edwin J. Youngs who passed away peacefully at home on Sat.
