Douglas A. Youngs of Rio Rico, AZ passed away on Thurs. May 12, 2022, at the age of 72. Doug was born in Sidney, NY on March 26, 1950, to Edwin and Elizabeth Youngs of Unadilla, NY. He lived in Guilford, NY until his job with Amphenol led the family to relocate to Arizona in 1999. He is survived by his wife Cheryl Youngs, his six children, Jon Youngs, Christine Sbragia, Jason Richard, Penny Paolo, Gary Richard, and Victoria Richard, several grandchildren and one great-granddaughter, his two sisters, Gloria Truscott and Susan Whitmore, and his mother, Betty Youngs. He was predeceased by his brother Roger, and father Edwin.
Doug lived his life vibrantly and enthusiastically. He was an artist, a creator, a builder, a fixer, a tinkerer, and a storyteller. He was a friend to all he met and treated his friends like family. Doug would give anyone in need the shirt off his back - if he happened to be wearing one that day. Loved ones will remember him for his laugh and smile, his love of a good joke, and his ability to find the right tool or design a solution for any challenge. His nearly 34-year marriage to Cheryl, his best friend and soulmate, serves as the paragon of true partnership, an inspiration to all who were blessed to share time with them.
Calling hours will be held Tuesday, May 17, 2022, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Westcott-Madden Funeral Home, 123 Main St., Unadilla, NY for those who wish to pay their respects to Doug and family. His remains will be laid to rest in the family plot at Evergreen Cemetery during a private burial service. Online condolences may be made at: www.wmaddenfh.com.
