: Dorothy Campbell Green, 102 passed away on Tues. Sept. 19, 2023 at the NYS Veterans Home in Oxford. She was born August 1, 1921, in Georgetown, NY, to Samuel and Pearl (Robbins) Campbell. She grew up with 4 brothers and 1 sister on the family farm in Georgetown. She attended school at Georgetown Central School and was a member of their girls’ championship basketball team. Upon graduation, Dorothy worked for Gladding Fishline Manufacturing, Victory Stores, and the U.S. Post Office in Georgetown. Dorothy’s brothers played baseball and it was there that one of their teammates, Gerald, saw her wearing a red suit. The rest was history! Dorothy and Gerald married in Jay, NY, on October 1, 1949. They lived in that area until 1952 when they moved to Canastota. They moved to Unadilla in 1955. Dorothy served as a leader for Brownie and Girl Scout Troops, taught Sunday School, served on Council for the Aging, and served on the Elections Committee for Otsego County. She and Gerald joined the Unadilla Presbyterian Church in 1955 and served on many committees and as Elders. It is as a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother that Dorothy excelled and derived her greatest pleasure. She is survived by her husband of seventy-four years, Gerald (Jerry), and daughters & son-in-law Deborah & Scott Somers and Patricia Kafchinski & Chris Hendrickson, ten grandchildren, Jeremy (Julie), Jennie (Ernie), Michelle (Dustin), Ryan (Katie), Heather, Christopher (Leah), Patrick (Nathaly), Marcia (Jeff), Garrett (Lauren), Nathan and eighteen great-grandchildren and her oldest daughter, Judy, passed away in 2010.
Funeral Services will be held at the First Presbyterian Church 156 Main Street Unadilla on Sat. at 12 Noon. Rev. Lynn Shepherd & Rev. Barry Dancy will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Hill Cemetery, Unadilla. The family will receive friends at the First Presbyterian Church on Sat. from 11 a.m. to 12 Noon prior to service.
