Audrey Burnside Howey

Audrey Burnside Howey, 87, of Otego, NY, passed away on May 30th, 2022.

She was born on June 15th, 1934, graduated from Otego High School in 1952 and was a lifelong resident of Otego.  She married the love of her life, Jack B. Howey, on February 14th, 1997.

She was a longtime employee of the Amphenol Corporation and retired after 40 years.  Audrey was devoted to her family, an avid quilter and very active in her community.  She was known locally as “Grandma Howey” at many Unatego school events & Wells Bridge Fire Department activities. 

She is survived by her twin sister, Shirley Goebeler; her daughter, Ellen (Jeff) Barber; grandchildren Andrew (Sarah) Barber and Amanda (Irick Wilber) Barber; great-grandchildren, Shea & Cassidy Barber, Raelynn, Harper & Lily Wilber; and many nephews, nieces, great nieces & nephews, and great great nieces & nephews.    

Audrey was predeceased by her parents, Lambert & Dorothy Burnside; her husband Jack Howey; brothers John and Frank Burnside; and sister Joyce (Fred) Underwood.  

As per Audrey’s request, no funeral or memorial service will be held.  A private graveside service will be held for her family at a later date.    

One of Audrey’s many pastimes was donating items to nearby animal shelters.
