Walter Campbell Obituary

Walter “Joe” or “Tubby” Louis Campbell passed away peacefully Monday June 18th 2018 at Oneonta Fox Nursing Home. He was born at Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown N.Y. on November 21st 1929 to Stanley and Ruth Campbell. He is survived by his children Richard Campbell CA, Cathy (Tom) Lloyd Jamesville N.Y. Douglas (Judy) Campbell Conesus N.Y., Terri (Duane) Long Mebane N.C. Margaret “Peggy” Eck Dryden N.Y. Walter “Joe” (Cindy) Campbell Jr. Unadilla N.Y. His grandchildren Tracey (Tim) Ladd, Tina(Brad) Harwell, Timothy(Sonia) Cole, Jeremy(Cindy) Campbell, Andy Campbell, Kate(Joe) Theil, Robin(Scott) Kulesa, Nick(Mandy) Long, Bruce Eck, Benjamin(Kaitlyn)Eck, Bailey Eck, Jessica(Josh)Newell, Kevin(Neala)Campbell, Chris(Katy)Hoke, Shelly(Jon) Nichols, Jeff Hoke and many great grandchildren, and his sister Margaret(Charles) Johnson Alaska. He was predeceased by his siblings Stewart “Sparky” (Janet) Campbell, Stanley “mug” Campbell, and granddaughter Tanya Long Simeone. He worked for his father Stan Campbell Plumbing and Heating then took over business after his father passed, which then changed to Campbell Plumbing and Heating. He then worked for Unatego Central School as Buildings and Grounds Superintendent for 16 years until he retired then spent every day with his wife Lucille, the love of his life for 67 years till she passed in January 2017. He and Lucille made wonderful lasting memories with each child, grandchild and great grandchild they had. He was loved and will be missed.

     He was a Member of the Unadilla Fire Department for many years and Chief for 10 years.  A long standing member of the Pancake Day sausage room, and original member of the Fat Head Club. He loved his German Alps festivals with Lucy, Burpee and Griff and loved going to Bass Lake and Crow Lake in Canada.

   Private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Resident Activity Fund at A.O.Fox Nursing Home in Oneonta.
