Verna A. Higbie, 98 passed away Thurs. morning July 26, 2018 at her home. She was born on May 24, 1920 to John & Vera (Slater) Ames in Utica, NY. She married Robert L. Higbie on May 28, 1939 in Richfield Springs, who predeceased her. She was also predeceased by a son, John and 2 granddaughters, Amelia & Kathleen.

She is survived by her 5 children and their families, Roberta (Robert Pomerleau) Hubbard, Eliot, Maine, James (Annie) Higbie, Wells Bridge, Linda (Robert) Stockwell, Savannah, GA, Sue (Thomas) Stone, Unadilla, Carol (Francis) McGowan, N. Ft. Myers, FL, 12 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, a sister, Carolyn (Richard) Ingalls, Nineveh and also several nieces and nephews.

She was a 50 year member of the Eastern Star and was State Associate Grand Warder in NYS, member of the Wells Bridge Fire Dept. Auxiliary.

At her request, Private Services will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wells Bridge Fire Dept.
