Melvin Chandler Banks, 83 formerly of Unadilla & Afton passed away on Sat. Nov. 25, 2017 at the Lake Wales Medical Center in FL.  He was born on Sept. 13, 1934 in Deposit, NY to the late Fred & Louise Banks.  He was currently a resident of Indian Lake Estates, FL since 1999.  He retired as a Machinist at Bendix after 37 years.  Melvin was a former member of the Moose Lodge in Sidney, NY.  He enjoyed gardening and took great joy in taking care of his yard. He also enjoyed going camping.  He was predeceased by his first wife, Vesta Banks and daughter Donna Banks.  He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Joan S. Banks, son, Steven (Marjorie) Banks, Franklin, NY, daughter, Darlene Wilkins, Greene, NY, 7 grandchildren, Matthew, Nathan (Vanessa), Brenton & Jamison (Thea) Banks, Gwendolyn (Rick), Scott (LaTanya), Allen (Jessy) Wilkins, 7 great grandchildren, sister, Florence Terry, Franklin, NY, brothers, Fred (Kathryn) Banks Jr., Franklin, NY, Lee (Alice) Banks, Halifax, VA., Kenny Banks and also several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at the Westcott-Madden Funeral Home 123 Main Street Unadilla on Mon. at 12 Noon.  Rev. Brandilynne Craver will officiate.  Burial will be in Evergreen Hill Cemetery, Unadilla.  The family will receive friends at the Westcott-Madden Funeral Home on Mon. from 11 a.m. to 12 Noon prior to service.  Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.  On-line condolences may be made at:   www.wmaddenfh.com.  Arrangements by the Westcott-Madden Funeral Home.
