Joseph Lyle Ritchey

Of Unadilla

Joseph Lyle Ritchey, 86 of Unadilla passed away Wed. July 6, 2016 at A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital in Oneonta.  He was born on Sept. 14, 1929 in Schenevus, NY to the late Joseph & Louise Ella (Bostwick) Ritchey and married Wahneta Mae (Knapp) Ritchey who predeceased him on Nov. 12, 2000. They married Dec. 18, 1953 at the First Methodist Church in Oneonta. He was retired employee of C & M Plastics in Bainbridge, former employee of American Plastics in Bainbridge and was an US Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict.  He graduated from Andrew S. Draper Central School in Schenevus in 1948.  He enjoyed golfing, playing cards and watching his favorite games on TV.

He is survived by 2 sons and daughter-in-law, Thomas & Brenda Ritchey, Oxford, William Ritchey, Unadilla, “adopted” daughter & son-in-law, Donna & Chet French, Unadilla, 2 granddaughters, Jodi & Eric Quackenbush, Cari Angellotti, 3 brothers and sister-in-law, Lloyd Ritchey, Norwich, Harold Ritchey, Schenevus, Norman & Anna Ritchey, Unadilla brother-in-law an sister-in-law, Stan & Cathy Knapp, Mt. Upton, sisters-in-law, Audrey Baker, Sidney, Virginia Lobell, Norwich and also several nieces, nephews and cousins.  He was also predeceased by his sisters, Bernice Scott, Marion Fling and an infant sister, Beatrice.

Graveside Services will be held at the Evergreen Hill Cemetery, Unadilla on Thurs. July 14, 2016 at 11 a.m. with military honors.  Rev.
